Bhadra Yoga
Bhadra is the Mercury-based Pancha Mahapurusha yoga: Mercury in an angular house and its own or exaltation sign. The traditional portrait emphasizes learning and judgment. A Mercury conjunction alone does not establish it.

How Bhadra Yoga forms
Mercury must occupy the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house from the ascendant. It must also be in Gemini or Virgo. Both are Mercury's own signs; Virgo is also its exaltation sign.
The catalogue records two further versions involving conjunction with the Sun or Moon, and weak luminaries. These modify the interpretation of an already formed Mahapurusha combination. Bhadra Yoga is separate from the Bhadra or Vishti karana used in Panchang.
Virgo rises in the example, with Mercury in Virgo. Mercury therefore occupies the first house in its own and exaltation sign. Both chart styles show that same first-house placement.

Learning and clear judgment
The traditional account describes a learned person with a steady mind and a capacity to judge carefully. These are Mercury-related themes of understanding and discrimination.
Learning here is broader than a particular examination or qualification. The yoga's description is not evidence that a person will achieve a specific academic result.

Independence and material comfort
The source also associates Bhadra with independent undertakings, wealth and comforts. Its portrait combines intellectual ability with the resources to act on one's judgment.
The modifying versions temper that portrait. The presence of the basic yoga does not remove the need to read Mercury's condition and the rest of the chart.
Traditional interpretations are not guaranteed outcomes; consider the whole birth chart.
