KP significators
KP ranks house significators in four levels: an occupant's star occupants, the occupants, an owner's star occupants, then the owner. Mạghā shows both house-to-planet and planet-to-house tables using Placidus cusps and Krishnamurti ayanāṁśa.
Mars occupies the 10th house, so the Sun in Chitrā and the Moon in Dhaniṣṭhā, both in Mars's stars, rank first, with Mars second; Mercury owns the 10th cusp in Gemini, but no planet sits in its stars, so level C is empty and Mercury comes last. The order is Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, in Mạghā's chart.
| Rank | Rule | Planets |
|---|---|---|
| A · strongest | Planets in the occupant’s stars | Sun (Chitrā), Moon (Dhaniṣṭhā) |
| B | Occupant of the house | Mars |
| C | Planets in the owner’s stars | None |
| D | Owner of the Gemini cusp | Mercury |
Planets in an occupant's star come first
A house runs from its cusp to the next cusp, and its owner is the lord of the sign on the cusp. Krishnamurti kept that rule even when most of the house lies in the following sign.
Take the 10th house of Nila Raman. Mars occupies it, and Mars rules three nakṣatras: Mṛgaśirā, Chitrā and Dhaniṣṭhā. The Sun sits in Chitrā and the Moon in Dhaniṣṭhā, so both rank at level A, ahead of Mars at level B. The 10th cusp falls in Gemini, so Mercury owns the house, but no planet occupies Mercury's three stars, which leaves level C empty. Mercury closes the list at D.
Read in order, the significators of Nila's 10th house are the Sun, the Moon, Mars and Mercury.

Krishnamurti timed events with the significators
In KP, the sub lord of a cusp shows whether a house's matters are promised at all. Krishnamurti wrote that the significators then show the time of the event.
Most questions involve more than one house. Krishnamurti judged marriage from the 2nd, 7th and 11th houses, and self-earned income from the 2nd, 6th and 10th. An astrologer gathers the significators of every house involved and looks for results in the daśā, bhukti and antara of planets on that list.
A long list needs pruning. Krishnamurti set aside the weaker significators with two checks: the periods running at the time, and the ruling planets, the planets that rule the moment when the question is judged.

Mạghā reads significators in both directions
Significators offers House → Planets with A–D levels and a deduplicated effective order, or Planet → Houses showing star-lord occupation, own occupation, star-lord ownership and own ownership. Node Agent notes add conjoined planets, major-aspect planets and the sign lord's houses. Untenanted star marks planets whose three stars are empty.
The table stops at Krishnamurti's four levels; it does not add other planets conjoined with or aspecting a significator.
What people ask about KP significators
How do you find the significators of a house in KP?
List the planets occupying the house and the planets in those occupants' nakṣatras. Find the owner, the lord of the sign on the house's cusp, and the planets in the owner's nakṣatras. Rank them as Krishnamurti did: planets in an occupant's star, the occupants, planets in the owner's star, then the owner. In an empty house, the planets in the owner's star lead.
Which significator is the strongest in KP?
Krishnamurti called a planet in the nakṣatra of a house's occupant the strongest significator, followed by the occupant itself. In an empty house, planets in the owner's stars come first and the owner comes last. The ranking measures a planet's link to the house; in KP, whether its results are favourable depends on its sub lord.
How do Rāhu and Ketu work as significators in KP?
The nodes own no sign, so Krishnamurti treated them as agents of other planets. He ranked their loyalties: first a planet a node is conjoined with, then a planet aspecting it, and last the lord of the sign it occupies. Mạghā lists all three kinds of agent for each node, always including the sign lord, and adds their houses in planet order, not by rank.
What is the difference between significators and the cuspal sub lord?
The cuspal sub lord is the sub lord of the degree where a house begins; in KP it shows whether that house's matters are promised. Significators are the planets connected with the house, and their periods show when a promise can be fulfilled. Krishnamurti read the sub lord first and used the significators for timing.
