Sarvatobhadra Chakra

Sarvatobhadra Chakra arranges nakṣatras, sounds, signs, tithis and weekdays in 81 cells. Mạghā traces planetary vedhas to five birth targets: Moon's star and sign, Ascendant sign, tithi and weekday. Interpret these relationships within the chakra's traditional method.

The 81 cells contain 28 nakshatras, sixteen vowels, twenty consonants, twelve signs and five tithi groups. Five birth targets have gold borders. The Sun's column from Chitra and Rahu's reverse diagonal from Vishakha reach Libra. The Moon's diagonal from Dhanishta reaches Rikta and Friday. Planet abbreviations and a curved arrow mark the prepared natal placements and retrograde motion.

Scroll the grid, or focus it and use the arrow keys, to inspect all nine columns. Nakshatra cells are sand, Svara lilac, Akshara green, Rāśi blue and Tithi / Vāra gold.

Gold borders: Janma Nakshatra Dhanishta; Janma Rashi Capricorn (Cp); Ascendant Rashi Libra (Li); Tithi Poorna / Saturday; Vara Rikta / Friday.

Red: Sun · Column and Rahu · Reverse diagonal to Libra. Green: Moon · Diagonal to Rikta / Friday. Dark segments join source and target; pale segments continue to the border. Only three of the fourteen listed connections are drawn.

A planet's vedha runs straight across the grid or on a diagonal

The nakṣatras run clockwise round the border, seven to a side from Kṛttikā, with Abhijit between Uttarāṣāḍhā and Śravaṇa. Vowels fill the corner cells of the four rings, consonants the rest of the second ring and the signs the third, and the five cells at the centre hold the tithi groups, Nandā to Pūrṇā, each with its weekdays.

Narapati gives a planet three vedhas from its nakṣatra: one straight across to the far side and one on each diagonal, to its left and right. In Nila's chakra the Sun's straight line from Chitrā and Rāhu's diagonal from Viśākhā both cross Libra, her ascendant sign. The Moon's diagonal from Dhaniṣṭhā crosses the cell of the Riktā tithis and Friday, the weekday of her birth.

Reading benefic and malefic vedhas

Narapati considers vedhas to the birth nakṣatra, name letters and vowel, tithi and sign. Sun, Mars, Saturn, Rāhu and Ketu are malefics; repeated vedhas intensify the traditional adverse reading. Benefic vedhas, especially Jupiter’s, support favourable readings.

The text applies the chakra to battle, journeys, marriage and illness, discouraging auspicious beginnings when malefics pierce the relevant factors. These are traditional interpretations, not guaranteed outcomes.

Mạghā lists the vedhas that reach your targets, line by line

Sarvatobhadra groups vedhas by target, listing planet, nature, source cell, line and destination. Filter by target or graha. Jupiter/Venus are benefic; Sun/Mars/Saturn/nodes are malefic; Moon depends on birth tithi and Mercury on companions in its nakṣatra. Nila’s chart has five targets and fourteen vedhas.

Mạghā's displayed analysis follows rows, columns and both diagonals from each planetary nakṣatra. It illustrates those connections, without a motion-based timing forecast or guaranteed event.

What people ask about the Sarvatobhadra Chakra

How do you read the Sarvatobhadra Chakra?

Start from the targets: the birth nakṣatra, the letters and vowel of the name, the tithi and the sign, and in many readings the weekday. Find each planet's nakṣatra on the border and follow its lines across the grid; a target on a line is pierced. Narapati then weighs each vedha by the planet's nature, strength and motion, and by how many malefic vedhas fall on the targets together.

What is vedha in the Sarvatobhadra Chakra?

Vedha means piercing. A planet pierces the cells on its lines through the chakra, straight across and on the two diagonals. In Narapati's rules a retrograde planet looks to its right, a fast one to its left and one at middling speed straight ahead, while the Sun, the Moon, Rāhu and Ketu always cast all three. Malefic vedhas harm and benefic ones help.

Is the Sarvatobhadra Chakra the same as the Sarvatobhadra Maṇḍala?

No. The Sarvatobhadra Maṇḍala is a ritual diagram drawn as an altar for pūjā, with deities invoked into its sections and Brahmā at the centre. The chakra is an astrological grid of nakṣatras, letters, signs, tithis and weekdays used to judge vedha. Both names mean "auspicious on every side".

Can the Sarvatobhadra Chakra be used for the stock market?

Some astrologers apply it to markets and commodity prices, a use set out in Hindi books on forecasting prices. Narapati's own verses judge people, battles and undertakings. Mạghā's tab works from a birth chart, so it reads vedhas on personal targets and has no market or commodity mode.

Can Mạghā show transits on the chakra?

Yes. In the Sarvatobhadra tab, switch on Natal + Transit and choose a date, time and place under Analysis settings. Mạghā adds the planets for that moment to the grid and draws their vedhas as dashed lines beside the natal ones. You can also type a letter, such as the first letter of a name, as a Manual Akshara target.
