Opening Mạghā Astro AI

Our story began long before the app.

In 2020, a personal encounter led Subrahmanyam to study astrology. That curiosity became VedicAstrologyAI.com. The project grew into Magha Astro AI and Magic Astro AI.

How we got here.

  1. Astrology becomes personal.

During COVID, a friend’s reading about Subrahmanyam’s grandmother and her recovery changed how he thought about astrology. What had once seemed easy to dismiss became something he wanted to understand. He began studying the charts and methods behind the readings.

  2. The idea takes shape.

Study brought a different frustration: useful tools were scattered across platforms, difficult interfaces and paywalls. Subrahmanyam began shaping a product around the way he wanted to learn, with charts, calculations and their context available together, and room to explore each method.

  3. A name for the project.

VedicAstrologyAI.com was registered on 28 May 2024. The domain gave the idea its first public name and a home to build towards. It brought together the two interests behind the project: studying Vedic astrology and exploring how software and AI could help explain it.

  4. VedicAstrologyAI.com launches.

The first version of VedicAstrologyAI.com launched in July 2025. A personal project had become something others could use. That work would grow into Mạghā Astro AI for studying charts and timing, and Magic Astro AI for conversations grounded in astrology data.

  5. More detail behind the chart.

The web app gained improved handling of birth times, including historical time zones and daylight-saving changes. Additional chart points became available alongside the existing Vedic calculations, giving readers more control over the information they choose to include in a natal chart.

  6. Charts become easier to share.

Chart-link sharing and the web viewer reached production. Readers could publish a chart snapshot, choose whether to include birth details, and update or revoke its link. It made sharing a chart for a conversation or further study part of the workspace itself.

  7. Mạghā arrives on Android.

The Android launch brought Mạghā to Google Play. Birth and divisional charts, Daśā systems, KP tools, yogas, Pañchāṅga and AI-assisted reports could now be explored in a phone app, extending the project beyond the browser and into everyday use.

  8. A closer look at transits.

Advanced Transit search reached production, enabling the Android app to load supported targets and find their occurrences. Readers could search for a planetary event and examine its timing alongside the chart, adding another way to study how placements change over time.

  9. Magha, soon on iPhone.

We’re bringing Magha’s charting and timing tools to iOS, with a release targeted for November 2026. The aim is simple: keep your astrology workspace close, whichever device you use. In the meantime, Magha is available through your iPhone’s browser.

Why I kept going.

I was skeptical of astrology. A friend who practised it read my chart and described things that made me curious, but it was a family experience during COVID that stayed with me. My grandmother was in intensive care, and we were worried about what would happen next.

That friend spoke about when she might come home. Her discharge followed the timing he had described. For me, that was a turning point. I wanted to understand how he had arrived at it, so I began studying astrology, collecting charts and looking more closely at its methods.

As I learned, I kept running into obstacles. Tools worked on some devices but not others. Interfaces made simple tasks difficult, and useful features sat behind paywalls. Some advice I received was too broad to help with the questions I actually had. I wanted to see the calculations and study the reasoning myself.

That is what led me to build. Mạghā brings those tools into one workspace, with every astrology feature free for life. Optional AI reports are separate, one-time purchases. I want someone beginning their own study to have access to the tools I wished I had when I started.
