What is the D150 chart?

D150 divides each sign into 150 portions. Mạghā uses cyclic sign mapping from the D1 positions. This calculation is distinct from named Nāḍīāṁśa portions and their traditional texts; identify the method before comparing results.

One hundred and fifty portions · cyclic.

11°06′ AriesStarts from Aries
11°06′ Aries maps to Scorpio in D150

Method 1: cyclic full zodiac longitude multiplied by 150. The portions of Aries start from Aries; no named Nāḍī portions are assigned. The source is 11.1 degrees within Aries. The overview divides the full 30-degree sign into 150 equal portions. Portion 56 spans exactly 55 times 30/150 through 56 times 30/150 degrees, displayed as 11° to 11°12′ with seconds rounded for reading. The example maps to 15 degrees Scorpio in D150.

Method 1: cyclic full zodiac longitude multiplied by 150. The portions of Taurus start from Libra; no named Nāḍī portions are assigned. The source is 11.1 degrees within Taurus. The overview divides the full 30-degree sign into 150 equal portions. Portion 56 spans exactly 55 times 30/150 through 56 times 30/150 degrees, displayed as 11° to 11°12′ with seconds rounded for reading. The example maps to 15 degrees Taurus in D150.

Mạghā’s calculated example

How is the D150 chart calculated?

Every portion spans 12′, or one fifth of a degree. The cyclic method assigns successive portions to successive signs, carrying the count forward across the original zodiac signs.

Aries begins its sequence from Aries. After its 150 portions, Taurus begins from Libra. A position at 11°06′ occupies the fifty-sixth portion: it maps to Scorpio when the original sign is Aries, and to Taurus when the original sign is Taurus.

The diagram follows that cyclic assignment. It does not assign the named Nāḍī aṁśas or apply their individual textual readings.

D150 and named Nāḍī portions

Nāḍī literature describes systems of named portions, including order changes for movable, fixed and dual signs. Those names and ordering rules are not established merely by displaying a cyclic D150 chart.

D60 divides a sign into sixty half-degree portions; D150 uses 150 portions of twelve minutes. Comparing them shows two different scales, but neither the larger factor nor the finer drawing supplies an interpretation by itself.

Reading D150 alongside D1

Start with D1, the exact birth-time record and the calculation method. Use D60 or another division as a comparison only after identifying the rule used for each chart.

With such small portions, the ascendant and any position close to a dividing degree need particular care. There is no universal number of seconds after which every placement changes.

The cyclic chart is a calculation tool within an astrological practice, not a verified account of a person’s past or future.
