How is the D4 chart calculated?
Each part spans 7°30′. The four portions map to the original sign and the fourth, seventh and tenth signs counted from it, including the starting sign in the count.
For Aries, the sequence is Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. For Taurus, it is Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. At 10° Aries, a planet lies in the second portion and maps to Cancer; at 10° Taurus it maps to Leo.

Fortune, home and foundations
The classical description gives D4 the broad subject of fortune. A reading about land or a home is a more specific use within that wider tradition, rather than the literal meaning of every D4 placement.
Home also has a human meaning: a place to settle, keep possessions and build daily life. These themes give context to a reading without turning the chart into a property valuation or a promise of ownership.
Reading D4 alongside D1
Establish the question in D1 before interpreting D4. For a home-related reading, astrologers commonly begin with the fourth house and its ruler, then compare the D4 ascendant and planetary condition.
Consider repeated indications and the reliability of the birth time. A single placement cannot describe every circumstance around inheritance, relocation or buying a house.
