Pañcottarī Daśā
Pañcottarī Daśā shares 105 years among seven planets. Parāśara prescribes it for a Cancer Ascendant in arkāṁśa, a narrow portion of the sign. Mạghā calculates its main periods and dated subdivisions from the saved birth chart.
Bars are sized by length: Jupiter 18 years (begun July 1993, before birth), Sun 12, Mercury 13 (current, July 2023 to July 2036), Saturn 14, Mars 15, Venus 16 and Moon 17, ending in July 2098. The chart is Mạghā's chart, which does not meet Parāśara's condition for this system.

Counting from Anurādhā to your birth star picks the first period
Parāśara starts the count at Anurādhā, the nakṣatra (lunar mansion) of the god Mitra. Count from there to the nakṣatra holding the Moon at birth and divide by seven. A remainder of one gives the Sun, two gives Mercury, and so on in the order above; no remainder gives Jupiter. As in Vimśottarī, the share of the nakṣatra the Moon has already crossed counts as time already spent in that first period.
Nila Raman's Moon sits early in Dhaniṣṭhā, the seventh nakṣatra from Anurādhā, so her cycle opens with Jupiter. About 7% of Dhaniṣṭhā had passed, so Jupiter's 18 years began in July 1993, some 15 months before she was born. The Sun followed in July 2011 and Mercury in July 2023. The timeline draws all seven periods to scale; her cycle ends in July 2098.

Parāśara reserves Pañcottarī for a Cancer Lagna
Pañcottarī requires Cancer Lagna in arkāṁśa. Arka can mean Sun or twelve: one translation reads Cancer's own D12 portion; another gloss reads the Sun's D9, Leo. Both restrict eligibility to a small part of Cancer. Applicable periods follow their lords' strength and placement, alongside Vimśottarī. Nila has Libra Lagna in D1, D9 and D12, satisfying neither reading; this page's schedule illustrates arithmetic only.

Choose Graha Daśās → Panchottari. Seven mahādaśās expand through Antardaśā, Pratyantardaśā and Sūkṣma with start and end dates.
Sub-periods follow each lord’s proportional years, starting with the parent lord. Mạghā uses 365.2564-day sidereal years, the chosen ayanāṁśa and one 105-year cycle.
Note: applicability is not checked. The classical condition is Cancer Lagna in arkāṁśa, interpreted as the Sun’s navāṁśa or Cancer’s own dvādaśāṁśa.
Each bar is Mercury's 13 years times its antardaśā lord's years divided by 105, from Jupiter at 2.23 years down to the Sun at 1.49 years. Saturn, the current sub-period, runs from late February 2025 to November 2026.

Mercury's 13 years split into seven antardaśās
On 12 September 2026, the reference date, Nila Raman's Pañcottarī is in its Mercury mahādaśā, which runs from July 2023 to July 2036. Its seven antardaśās begin with Mercury and keep the cycle's order: Mercury, Saturn, Mars, Venus, Moon, Jupiter, Sun.
Mạghā gives each one Mercury's 13 years multiplied by its lord's years and divided by 105. Saturn's share is 13 × 14 ÷ 105 = 1.73 years, about 633 days, so the current Saturn antardaśā runs from late February 2025 to November 2026. Jupiter, the lord with the most years, takes the longest share, 2.23 years from October 2032 to January 2035; the Sun takes the shortest, 1.49 years, and closes the period in July 2036.
Questions about Pañcottarī Daśā
When does Pañcottarī Daśā apply?
Parāśara gives it to a Cancer Lagna in arkāṁśa, and the reading decides the degrees. Taken as Cancer's own dvādaśāṁśa, the Lagna must fall in the first 2°30′ of Cancer. Taken as the Sun's navāṁśa, it must fall between 3°20′ and 6°40′ of Cancer, the Leo navāṁśa. Check your Lagna's degree against the reading you follow.
What are the periods in the 105-year Pañcottarī cycle?
Seven mahādaśās in a fixed order: Sun 12 years, Mercury 13, Saturn 14, Mars 15, Venus 16, Moon 17 and Jupiter 18. Your cycle opens with the lord your Moon's nakṣatra gives and runs on through the order. Because part of the first period passes before birth, the cycle ends between 87 and 105 years after birth.
How is Pañcottarī different from Vimśottarī?
Vimśottarī shares 120 years among nine planets, Rāhu and Ketu included, and Parāśara treats it as the system for people in general. Pañcottarī leaves out the two nodes, shares 105 years among the other seven, counts from Anurādhā rather than Kṛttikā and is meant only for charts that meet its condition. The lengths differ too: the Sun rules for 6 years in Vimśottarī and 12 in Pañcottarī.
