Māsa Praveśa
Māsa Praveśa divides the annual Tājika year into twelve solar-entry charts. The first starts at the annual return; each subsequent month begins another 30° ahead at the birth degree. Mạghā calculates the selected month's chart and lord.
Each month starts when the Sun reaches 26°40′23″ of the next sign, from Virgo at 11:19 IST on 14 October 2026 to Leo at 04:11 IST on 14 September 2027. The months run from 29 days 11 hours (the third, from 13 December) to 31 days 11 hours (the ninth, from 12 June), and the rising sign changes every month.

Nila's months last from 29½ to 31½ days
A Tājika month measures the Sun's next 30° from its birth degree, independent of lunar or civil months. Changing solar speed makes Nila's months range from 29d11h to 31d11h. Her first begins with the annual return at 11:19 IST on 14 October 2026, the second at 12:25 on 13 November and the twelfth at 04:11 on 14 September 2027. The first two ascendants are Sagittarius and Capricorn.

Six office-holders compete to rule each month
Each monthly chart has its own month lord (Māseśa). Nīlakaṇṭha lists six candidates: the lords of the Māsa Lagna, the Muntha, the birth Lagna and the annual Lagna, the tri-rāśi lord, and the lord of the Sun's sign in a day chart or the Moon's at night. The strongest of them that aspects the Māsa Lagna rules the month, and its results are read like the year lord's.
For the Muntha in this list, Mahīdhara advances the year's Muntha by 2°30′ for each month. Yādava, quoted by Balabhadra, keeps five candidates, with the annual Lagna lord in place of the birth Lagna lord, and finds the month lord just as he finds the year lord.

Mạghā shows one month at a time with its month lord
Tajik → Māsa shows each monthly return at the year's return place, with Lagna, Māseśa, carried Varṣeśa, Muntha, yogas, relationships and six candidate comparisons. Degrees can display the selected month's positions.
Mạghā applies its simplified year-lord aspect/score test. It uses Varṣeśa as candidate six rather than Nīlakaṇṭha's annual Lagna lord, and holds Muntha at its annual position. Results can therefore differ from strength-based methods.
With Capricorn rising at 12:25 IST on 13 November 2026, Venus aspects the Lagna by trine and Saturn by sextile, each holding two offices, while Mercury aspects by square and Mars not at all. Mạghā names Mercury, the only candidate with an inimical aspect; Nīlakaṇṭha's sixth candidate, Jupiter, does not aspect the Lagna.
| Office | Candidate | Aspect |
|---|---|---|
| Sun-sign lord | Venus · Virgo, retrograde | trine · friendly |
| Birth Lagna lord | Venus · Virgo, retrograde | trine · friendly |
| Muntha lord | Mercury · Libra, retrograde | square · inimical |
| Māsa Lagna lord | Saturn · Pisces, retrograde | sextile · friendly |
| Day tri-rāśi lord | Mars · Leo | no aspect |
| Carried Varṣeśa | Saturn · Pisces, retrograde | sextile · friendly |
In Nila's second month Mạghā names Mercury as Māseśa
Nila's second month opens at 12:25:53 IST on 13 November 2026, a day chart with Capricorn rising at 23°39′. Venus holds two offices, lord of the Sun's sign Libra and of her birth Lagna, and aspects Capricorn by trine from Virgo. Saturn holds two as well, lord of the Māsa Lagna and the carried Varṣeśa, and aspects by sextile from Pisces. Mercury, lord of the Gemini Muntha, aspects by square from Libra, and Mars, the tri-rāśi lord, sits in Leo without an aspect.
Mạghā names Mercury, the only candidate with an inimical aspect. Nīlakaṇṭha's list would put Jupiter, lord of the annual Sagittarius Lagna, in place of the carried Saturn, but Jupiter in Leo does not aspect Capricorn either. The same three planets qualify, and his rule gives the month to the strongest of them.
What people ask about Māsa Praveśa
Is the first monthly chart the same as the annual chart?
Yes. The first month begins at the annual return, when the Sun stands at its birth degree in its birth sign, so the two charts share one moment, one Lagna and the same planets. Tājika reads it twice: for the year with the year lord, and for the first month with the month lord.
Is a Tājika month the same as a lunar or calendar month?
No. It is a solar month counted from the birth degree, so it starts on different dates for different people and ignores the Moon's phases. Its length follows the Sun's speed, from about 29½ days around January to about 31½ days around July.
Can I see the monthly chart for another year?
Yes. Choose the year under Annual year on the Tajik tab, then Māsa and the month under Selected Māsa. Mạghā finds that year's return first and then the chosen month, cast for the same return place, so changing the return place moves every monthly Lagna as well.
